Ken Winsberg has been a Certified Specialist in the area of Family Law since that designation was first available. Currently in Arizona there are fewer than one hundred certified specialists in family law out of more than 17,000 active lawyers.
He devotes his entire practice to family law, as he has done for over twenty years.
He believes that family disputes require a unique approach to the law as the people involved are often facing the biggest crisis in their lives and it is difficult for them to deal alone with the challenges of divorce or disputes concerning children.
Ken began his career as an attorney in Chicago. During the Vietnam era he was an Army Judge Advocate where as a deputy Judge Advocate in Thailand as well as Military Judge. After the Army, he moved to Phoenix where he worked at Meadow, Cheche, Nastro & Thrasher where he devoted much of his time to family law matters. Since the early 1980’s, he has been in private practice.
In addition to being a certified specialist, Ken has been named a Super Lawyer, a designation given by peers. On AVVO he has a perfect score of 10, “Superb.”
He has spoken at seminars nationally and locally to lawyers on complex issues dealing with family law.
Ken has tried cases in United States District Court dealing with the application of international law to children who have been wrongfully kept from a parent by the other parent. There are very few attorney’s in the Phoenix area who have this experience.
Ken gets satisfaction in helping families going through divorce or other family law matters get through the process as smoothly as possible as he believes, as do most judges, that it is best for the families to make their own decisions and not have one imposed on them by a judge.
Ken has served as a mediator for family law problems including divorce, custody, parenting time, legal decision-making and complex financial situations. He also is a judge pro tem for the Maricopa County Superior Court and helps out filling in for judges who need a judge to fill in for them.
